This high volume, fishing-oriented Salthouse 50 is a proven Bluewater cruiser that has the design history to prove it. Having fished in the islands and cruised coastally around New Zealand, there is no doubt that this is one capable boat.
Her Glass Sheathed Kauri construction gives her full displacement hull the weight required to push through chop with ease. She is spacious with a standing room of 6’6" and comfortably sleeps 8 in her forward accommodation. Storage is no issue with ample room to bring all the gear involved with staying out for extended periods.
The cockpit revolves around a large stylish, functional aft deck area with a removable stainless steel game chair. A large fish freezer, outboard storage areas, live bait tank, duckboard, and aft stern rod island keep the stern clutter free with plenty of room to fight fish. The duckboard with twin walk through doors really open the aft deck up. Stern throttle controls keep the skipper involved in the action if you are two handing fish, or berthing single-handed. The flybridge helm presents the skipper great visibility for manoeuvring and anchoring. Driven by twin Cummins 250hp engines, she is incredibly responsive to the throttle, spinning on a dime.
A quality boat, well executed to an excellent finish throughout, with beautiful timber work. This is a simple, well-designed boat that will suit a passionate boatie who is looking for a capable vessel.
