Cruising Grounds, New Horizons & What’s Next....
Natural curiosity and a love of the wind are what first pushed sailors beyond the horizon. The charts may be full now, but Fiji still delivers that feeling of arrival. Drop the hook in the right bay, and it feels untouched, unhurried, and entirely yours.
As one of the South Pacific’s true cruising playgrounds, Fiji offers far more than the usual postcard stops. Our 36° Sales Manager, Robbs, has spent time exploring both the classics and the quieter corners, and here is one of his favorite off-the-beaten-track spots.

Qamea & Taveuni
Often referred to as Fiji’s “Garden Island,” Taveuni is lush, dramatic, and noticeably less trafficked than the western cruising grounds. The west coast offers the most reliable anchorages, with shelter and straightforward access ashore. Inland, waterfalls and rainforest tracks wind through Bouma National Heritage Park, delivering that proper off-the-boat adventure many cruisers crave.
Just offshore, the Somosomo Strait is known for vibrant reefs and current-driven drift dives. Tides matter here. Enter reef passes in good light, provision before heading north, and take your time. For sailors wanting greener scenery, fewer boats, and a touch more challenge, this region rewards the effort.

Spending the season in Fiji or French Polynesia and considering a sale? The islands operate differently to home. Timing, presentation, buyer access and logistics all matter.
We connect you with the right local contacts, help position your yacht correctly in-market, and guide the process from listing through to handover. Whether you’re wrapping up a Pacific chapter or repositioning for something new, we make it straightforward and professional.
Already out here and thinking about a change? It happens. Plans evolve. Boats evolve too.
Whether you're upgrading to a larger multihull for extended island living, downsizing for simplicity, or searching for an offshore-capable monohull to continue west, we understand the practical realities of buying in the islands. From fair valuations and sea trials to contracts and handover logistics, we know how to get deals done properly, even when you're anchored in a lagoon.
With offices in Fiji, Tahiti and across New Zealand, 36° Brokers works closely with the South Pacific cruising community. That means local knowledge, trusted marine contacts, and real people you can reach when it counts.
We’re also pleased to welcome Aron McLean to the 36° Brokers team, strengthening our presence on the ground in Fiji and further supporting cruisers throughout the region.
For bluewater sailors navigating the Pacific, that support matters.
