Behind the Build: Lagoon Bordeaux Visit & EIGHTY 3 Launch

31 March 2026 | Lagoon Catamarans

There’s something different about stepping inside a shipyard where the world’s leading catamarans are actually built.

Earlier this month, Nicholas travelled to Bordeaux, France, to experience it firsthand - going behind the scenes at Lagoon’s production facility and witnessing the official launch of the new EIGHTY 3 motor yacht.

From the moment you step into the yard, it’s clear this isn’t just assembly. It’s a process driven by precision, scale, and an attention to detail that’s hard to fully appreciate until you see it in person.

For Nicholas, it was an opportunity to connect the dots between what clients see on the water and what goes into building it.

“You see these boats out cruising and they feel effortless - but walking through the factory, you realise just how much goes into every stage. It gives you a whole new level of respect for the product.”

The Launch of the EIGHTY 3

A standout moment of the visit was the official unveiling and christening of Lagoon’s latest flagship, the EIGHTY 3.

Positioned at the top of the motor yacht range, the EIGHTY 3 represents a clear step forward - not just in size, but in how owners can shape the boat around their lifestyle. The focus is on flexibility. Layouts, living spaces, and configurations can be tailored to suit everything from private cruising to long-range exploration or onboard entertaining.

It’s a shift towards true customisation, without losing the reliability and proven platform Lagoon is known for. Explore the Eighty 3

Why This Matters

Trips like this aren’t just about seeing a new model. They’re about understanding the product at its core - how it’s built, what sets it apart, and where the brand is heading. For clients, that means better insight, better advice, and a clearer picture of what ownership actually looks like. Whether it’s stepping aboard for the first time or planning a future build, having that direct connection to the factory makes a difference.

Looking Ahead

With the EIGHTY 3 now officially launched, it’s an exciting time for Lagoon and for those considering stepping into larger catamarans. And after seeing it all come together in Bordeaux, one thing is clear - these boats are only getting better.

Looking Ahead: The Lagoon 47

Alongside the EIGHTY 3, Lagoon also gave an early look at the much-anticipated Lagoon 47 during the Exclusive Days in Bordeaux, with initial renderings and design direction shared with guests. Set to replace one of the most popular models in the range, the Lagoon 47 is already shaping up to be a standout - with a clear focus on improved flow, updated living spaces, and a more refined onboard experience. It’s still early days, but from what was shown, this is a model that looks set to lift the bar once again.
