Join Us at the 2023 Whangaroa Race + Cruising Rally!

3 March 2023 | 36 Degrees News

March and April are amazing months for exploring the northland coastline, as we often see more settled weather & warm blue water pushed in from the tropics.

As many shift their focus to offshore sailing, let’s get together to sail, celebrate, and drink the last of the summer wine!

36 Degrees is pleased to announce our Whangaroa Cruising Rally, in conjunction with the annual Bay of Islands Yacht Club Whangaroa Race on Saturday 22nd April.278731953 459476655975729 1306022740395486526 n 1

We’d like to invite cruisers and racers alike to participate in this 30-mile race from the Bay of Islands up the coast to the beautiful Whangaroa Harbour. As is tradition, at the end of the race all boats gather in the Western Arm (Lane Cove) to catch up, raft up for the night and socialize.

There is a stunning walk up the Dukes Nose & around Whangaroa harbour, as well as supplies and marina facilities further up for those who may wish to enjoy the area for a few extra days.

Enter in the Cruising Division to participate non-competitively with a 2hr motoring time allowance.

There are Racing Divisions for sports boats, multihulls and keelers including PHRF and Line honours prizes.

As well as a photo competition and prizes for the Biggest Fish Caught and the Infamous Grotty Oar. Prizegiving is to be held at Bay of Islands Yacht Club Friday 28th April.

This is a fun event which is both social and competitive, we are very excited to be a part of sharing it this year!

Register your attendance at boiyc.org.
