From informal waterfront gatherings and lagoon races to cultural celebrations and major cruising regattas, the season from July through November offers countless opportunities to meet fellow cruisers, experience local culture, and enjoy some of the most spectacular cruising grounds in the world.
Here are a few events worth adding to your calendar.
Bora Bora & Raiatea, French Polynesia | July - November
Set against the turquoise lagoons of French Polynesia, these relaxed sailing events combine casual racing with plenty of socialising. Open to cruising yachts and local sailors alike, Lagoon Regattas are less about silverware and more about getting out on the water, meeting new people, and enjoying some of the world's most beautiful anchorages.
Expect friendly competition, beach gatherings, raft-ups, and the kind of scenery that makes it hard to remember you're actually racing.

Port Vila, Vanuatu | July - November
For many cruisers passing through Vanuatu, Port Vila quickly becomes a favourite stop.
Throughout the season, waterfront bars and beach venues come alive with regular cruiser gatherings, live music, local hospitality, and plenty of sea stories. There is no formal schedule or race committee here - just a welcoming atmosphere and a chance to catch up with fellow sailors before continuing your Pacific adventure.
Mamanuca Islands, Fiji | 15-19 September 2026
Often regarded as the social highlight of the South Pacific cruising season, Musket Cove Regatta Week attracts sailors from across the Pacific each year.
Come for the sailing, stay for the parties.
Five days of racing, beach adventures, sunset drinks, themed events, and island hospitality make this one of the most anticipated events on the cruising calendar. Whether you're competing on the racecourse or simply enjoying the atmosphere from the anchorage, Musket Cove always delivers plenty of memorable moments.

Tonga | Early November
As the cruising season begins to wind down, Tonga's King's Birthday celebrations provide one final cultural highlight.
The festivities bring together local communities for parades, performances, church services, and celebrations throughout the kingdom. For visiting yachts, it offers a unique opportunity to experience Tongan culture and traditions while enjoying one of the Pacific's most welcoming cruising destinations.
Tahiti & Raiatea, French Polynesia | June - August
For many yachts arriving from the Americas, the Pacific Puddle Jump marks the beginning of their South Pacific adventure. Marinas and anchorages come alive as crews celebrate successful ocean crossings and begin exploring the islands of French Polynesia.
Tonga | July - October
One of the Pacific's most remarkable wildlife experiences. Each year humpback whales migrate through Tongan waters, offering cruisers the chance to witness these magnificent animals in one of the world's premier whale-watching destinations.

Fiji | Throughout the Season
A popular gathering point for yachts arriving in and departing from Fiji. Casual waterfront evenings, live music, cruising information, and friendly faces make Denarau a natural meeting place for sailors moving through the region.
New Caledonia | July - November
The French influence of New Caledonia creates a unique blend of cruising culture, waterfront dining, and marina social events. It's an excellent stop for cruisers looking to experience a different side of the South Pacific.
Vanuatu | July - November
Beyond the regular yacht nights, Port Vila's cruising community hosts a variety of informal social gatherings throughout the season, making it one of the easiest places in the Pacific to meet fellow sailors.
