Oceanis 46.1 NEW

Named European Yacht of the Year 2019 in the 'Family Cruising' category - the Oceanis 46.1 has been hailed as a smart design with plenty of room thanks to her stepped hull, and suitable for every style of cruising. It's the latest in a new era of Oceanis, and first to be revealed following the 51.1. With a whole new generation of innovation and design, the 46.1 is a finely crafted vessel which is perfect for coastal cruising or heading further offshore, and comes compete with customisable fittings throughout.

A real talking point of this new generation is the supreme amount of natural light which floods the interior to create a bright and airy space. The choice is yours as to how you dress this area, with light brushed oak giving a contemporary feel and mahogany trending more towards traditional finishing’s. The interior space for a boat of this size is second-to-none, and this is definitely noticeable in the cabins and master suite which has a shower room and separate head, as well as a 160x205cm island bed. The panoramic windows which wrap around the length of the boat are best enjoyed from this lush owner’s area where you can just lie down and watch your watery world go by.

The Oceanis 46.1 has a distinctivly stepped hull and boasts a huge amount of cockpit space in a clever layout. The clean deck plan makes use of the cockpit beam to create a relaxing area which is uncluttered and easy to move around on. All the lines run back to the helm stations which makes manoeuvring simple and short-handed sailing a dream. Loungers either side of the companionway add a distinct feel to the cruising element of the boat, with the German mainsheet system lifting all the sailing action out of the way.

For a racer at heart, the Oceanis 46.1 ticks all the boxes for owner Aaron Young, Vice Chancellor of the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron, who wanted a racer/cruiser that would also get his children interested in sailing. Having competed in a number of local coastal races, check out what he has to say about his recent participation in PIC Coastal Classic HERE.
